Daily Deal Site and Directory Mocality shuts down in Kenya and Nigeria

Mocality, a daily deal site and business listing directory targeting Nigeria and Kenya, will be shut down by its South African owners Naspers on the 28th February.

Mocality made worldwide headlines last year when it had a scuffle with Google, accusing and providing proof that the American search engine had been illegally accessing its database and contacting businesses on the database, asking them to move to Google’s Get Kenyan Businesses Online program. As a result Google's country manager for Kenya was fired.

Mocality claimed last year that it is Africa's largest mobile and web based business directory, having "given a mobile and internet presence to over 250,000 Nigerian businesses."
